Scene Shuffle

On the 28th and 29th of March our Community Company Members took to the daring challenge of performing 'Scene Shuffle'

Our community performers stepped up to the challenge of performing, directing and producing their own work but if that wasn't simple enough, the night had a twist!

The order of the scenes was in the hands of the audience!

Audience members will draw scene numbers from a deck of cards, reshuffling the story into a thrilling, unpredictable sequence that spiralled into delightful chaos!

The event took place in the Abject Gallery on Fawcett Street Sunderland and Set at artwork was also created for us on behalf of the Art Cafe Sunderland!

This performance from our Community Theatre Company is supported by ‘Funded By You’ (Crowdfunding campaign) & Our June Rose Community Project.

Thank you to everyone who got involved!

National Youth Theatre

Atlas Theatre Community Company this week we fortunate enough to have a free workshop with IGNITE @ The National Youth Theatre!

Facilitators lead a workshop looking at the art of film production!

“For me having a workshop with National Youth Theatre was exceptional because they offered so much information about the Film and TV industry which I wouldn’t have known about. I think it broadens out our skill set within the company to learn a little bit about Film and TV too and even just learning that bit more about different camera work and jobs in the industry was so insightful!“

SEND Santa Family Experience!

We had a fantastic time working with our friends at the Art Cafe Sunderland piloting our SEND Santa Family Experience. We wanted to create a festive experience to bring the Christmas magic to life for families that needed a more tailored experience. We would like to thank our community company members who have supported the festive events at the Art Cafe as well to Su and Anthony for giving their all to make this magical event.

SEND Santa Family Experiences will be back again next year and we aim to make them even better!

Atlas Theatre Company CIC have been exploring Aesop's Fables!

REDBY ACADEMY

On the 5th of December our Drama club at Redby Academy presented their work to their grown ups! Telling the story of The Ant and the Grasshopper.

We explored the use of ensemble in story telling practiced projecting and clarity of voice and worked on performing with confidence in front of an Audience! We even had a visit from the Atlas Community Theatre Company who have also been working on their own telling of Aesop's Fables!

ATLAS COMMUNITY THEATRE COMPANY

On the 7th and 8th of December our Community Theatre Company performed Aesop's Fables to a sold out audience! The production was adapted and directed by Holly - Rose Kneller telling the story of an amateur dramatic group coming together to produce their latest performance... they were hoping for something gritty, something serious... Pride & Prejudice, perhaps? ... Of Mice and Men, maybe?

However, they were slightly disappointed to be stuck putting together a selection of classic Aesop stories. With a disgruntled Elizabeth Bennett wannabe, as Mob Cat 3; to a less then energetic Hare. All led by their enthusiastic director John! did the company succeed?
